Just when you thought the story of the iPad thief who caused his victim to lose a finger couldn't get any weirder, the alleged genius, Brandon Darnell Smith, 21, has been accused of trying to have the man killed so he couldn't testify against him in court.

Is there an app for that?

Of course, prosecutors may not need testimony from the victim, Bill Jordan, anyway since the incident was caught on tape. But then Smith isn't exactly a brain surgeon.

Smith has made life hell for Jordan since April, when police say he grabbed a bag holding a new iPad from Jordan at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. The bag had been wrapped around Jordan hand; he later had to have part of his pinky amputated.

Smith has now been accused of attempted murder.
