The Children's Hour, a group show from four West Coast painters features incredibly fresh interpretations of classic fairy tails. Informed by the less traditional media of graffiti, graphic novel illustration, and even contemporary graphic design, these works are anything but child's play. The show will be on view at Limited Addiction Gallery, 825 Santa Fe, through December 23. Check out this slide show preview of the show.
Why be fair and give it a good listen when you can review 45 seconds of an album and make an uninformed snap judgement?

There can be only none. For nine years, Highlander Comics & Games has been one of a small and shrinking number of boutique comic book stores serving Denverites their weekly fix of superhero fiction. But, after five years on Tennyson Street and another four in their current location at 332 East Colfax, Highlander will soon close its doors. Owner John Murphy and a small cadre of dedicated employees have kept the store alive as a labor of love despite never turning a profit for Murphy, but Murphy says his will be the fourth such Denver shop to close in a decade. “It sucks,” says Murphy. “We love to be here. We love comics. And we love our customers.” But, he says, the Bush economy and internet sales have made it impossible to keep the doors open. Sadly, Highlander's misfortune can now be your source of Christmas presents for that very special fan boy or girl in your life, as everything at Highlander is half off through the end of the month.
