The improvements in computer animation are clearly trickling down to police forces.

The Aurora Police Department is looking for a suspect in an alleged kidnapping attempt over the weekend. But rather than releasing an old-school illustration of the individual in question, the APD has created a computer-generated image that provides a much better idea of his actual appearance.

Find details and a larger version of the "sketch" below.

At approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, according to the APD, officers responded to a 911 call on the 3600 block of South Zeno Way in Aurora.

There, police reps came into contact with a woman who said a man came up behind her, grabbed her and dragged her along a nearby sidewalk until her screams alerted her fiancé, who was also outside.

At that point, the alleged wannabe kidnapper took off, escaping under his own foot power.

The description? An African-American male in his late teens to early twenties, of modest height (around five-seven) with short, curly hair. At the time, he was wearing a white tank top with blue stripes, light-colored blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

If you recognize the man from the sketch, you're encouraged to phone Detective Pat Hardin at 303-627-3160 or Crime Stoppers at 303-913-STOP (7867). A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect's arrest and conviction.

Here's a larger look at the CG image.
