We can now give you a look at James Holmes, the man in custody in the wake of a shooting at the Aurora Town Center Century 16 during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. This is a more recent shot, while one below is from a San Diego yearbook. Here it is: As our Alan Prendergast notes in a post about the rumor mill following the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999, information that emerges in the early hours after an event like this one is notoriously unreliable. But media outlets are reporting that Holmes was a student at the University of Colorado Medical School before withdrawing last month. He's said to have been seeking a neuroscience Ph.D. We've got messages into CU spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery, who's quoted by other outlets, seeking confirmation.

One other bizarre factoid, courtesy of the New York Daily News: "Holmes also left the same song playing on repeat inside his home, where a poster of Will Ferrell from the movie Anchorman hung in the kitchen."

More from our Colorado Crimes archive: "James Holmes rumor mill after Aurora shootings: More viral than Columbine."
