Patricia Calhoun's April post about street sweeping's start in Denver including a contest for the biggest horror story.

Too bad for one reader that the contest was already over when he posted his tale of woe, because it's a doozy.

Oathofhoratii writes:

Yesterday on my way from my day job to my night job I received my first speeding ticket in almost 10 years in front of Coors's Field on 20th St. Who the hell goes 25 coming down that hill anyway?! So, that's $165 and 2 points on my license. Then, when I check out at work that night (pizza delivery) it turns out I'm $20 short, as I somehow dropped a 20 somewhere during the night. I drive home, spend the requisite 15 minutes driving around Capitol Hill looking for parking, and eventually one clears up for me right in front of my building (BONUS!). So, then when I wake up this morning, not 16 hours after getting my speeding ticket, I bolt out of bed with the sudden realization that I'd parked on the street sweeping side of 11th! Whaddya know? I get to my car and there's a shiny golden ticket in my door! $50 please, Love, City of Denver. So, I worked 15 hours, earning approximately $170 (including the $20 I lost), and I now owe $215 to Denver County. Whip-dee-doooo!!!!
