Why? According to news reports, he has a drinking problem -- a bad one -- and wants to be placed in a drug abuse program.
Hmmm. Either that or he has heard that the low-security, country-club prison was rated by Forbes magazine as one of the best places to serve time -- and prisoners who successfully complete substance abuse programs are often kept away from the general population and can sometimes be eligible for reduced prison time.
But Blago would never try to work the system, would he? After all, the man who was convicted of eighteen counts of corruption, including charges that he lied to the FBI and was involved in hospital, political and racetrack shakedowns, is an upstanding fellow.
