Hundreds of medical marijuana clinics have opened across the metro area -- it's hard to throw rock and miss one. And while some would argue there too many, one benefit has been that once-vacant storefronts and buildings have been given a new lease on life as a pot shop.
Some owners have opted for low-key offices in commercial settings, while others have gone all out -- painting a shade of green on everything possible. We here at Mile Highs and Lows wanted to showcase some of our favorite dispensary storefronts, for better or for worse.

Biocare Collective - Denver Why not turn your condo unit into a clinic? Fresh Baked Dispensary - Boulder Because nothing says fresh ganja like an artificial grass lawn. Altitude Organic Medicine - Denver The minimalist trellis over the entryway says small corporate headquarters. The green wall, however, says marijuana is sold here. Tea Alchemy - Nederland Quirky purple accent paint, unstained wood paneling, a crooked smoke stack and a carved-wood sign? If there is a dispensary in the land of Harry Potter, I'm guessing it looks something like this. Apothecary of Colorado - Denver This one gets a nod for being in a historic building that, at one point in time, was a pipe warehouse. Granted, it was sewer pipes, but that's close enough for slight irony and mild humor. Colorado Care Facility - Denver This appreciation for this design is not of building itself, but for their reuse of a vintage Colfax neon sign. I would consider this to be one of the better of the art-deco-meets-Krylon remodels I've seen. Denver Marijuana Medical Center - Denver How much for a gallon of Sour Diesel? Healing House - Denver The fact that the owners haven't opted for the beyond-cliché coat of green paint on the house alone makes this residence-turned-dispensary stand out. The Green Depot - Denver Formerly the home of at least three other dispensaries and a custom motorcycle showroom before that, I was just surprised to see a business actually surviving here. Little Green Pharmacy - Denver Didn't think it was possible to make a tacky used car dealership even tackier? Guess again. (Not pictured: the über-sketchy guard dog that patrols the grounds and lives in a lean-to by the Dumpster.)
