Monday, October 13

Denver-area Dunkin' Donuts are hosting a Rainforest Alliance Dark Roast Tasting Tour this month; from 8 to 10 a.m. today and tomorrow, the Westminster store (7615 West 88th Avenue) will be offering free samples; the tour moves to Boulder's store at 3235 28th Street October 16-17. All Denver locations will offer a 99-cent medium hot or iced Dark Roast through November 2; the coffee is being rolled out nationally next week.

Bites and Bottles at Infinite Monkey Theorem will highlight gourmet bites from Denver caterer and food trucks, local wine and beer, and philanthropy. All proceeds go to support the Shining Stars Foundation and NACE (National Association for Catering and Events). The event runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight, tickets are $75 and you can purchase them and learn more at bitesandbottlescolorado.com.

Tuesday, October 14

You can sip and sample six wines made by women at Lala's Wine Bar + Pizzeria tonight. Wine and light snacks are included in the $10 price tag; for more information, call Lala's at 303-861-9463.

Wednesday, October 15

The Flatirons Food Film Festival starts rolling today and will continue through Sunday at the Muenzinger Auditorium in Boulder. During the festival, audiences can feast on five food-centric feature films as well as several shorts paired with beer tastings, a performance by Opera on Tap, chef presentations, gastronomy demonstrations and tours of a farm, a brewery and a distillery. Firenze a Tavola will welcome Italian wine specialist Mario Scanu of the Winebow Group for a dinner with food paired with Barolo wines. The event starts at 6:30 and is $69; seating is very limited. Call 303-561-0234.

Stir Cooking School is holding its Risotto Workshop at 6:30 p.m. today. Learn to master the art of risotto while making wild mushroom risotto, Italian sausage and herb risotto, butternut squash and currant risotto, shrimp and fennel risotto, and bacon, gorgonzola and walnut risotto. Lower48 Kitchen is serving up a Sustainable Seafood Supper tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. The five-course menu with optional wine pairings, brought to you by Lower48 chef Alexander Figura and Sean Dimin, co-founder of Sea to Table, will feature a selection of sustainably sourced fish from Sea to Table as well as discussion of best practices for responsible and sustainable fishing. Ste. Ellie will host the Manhattan Experience from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight, when local bartenders create their own twist on a Woodford Reserve Manhattan. The event is free; find more information here.

The Aurora Food Truck Rodeo will be lassoing taste buds from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Aurora Municipal Center, with featured food trucks including Freddy's Latin Cuisine, Manna From Heaven, Mythos Greek and Sweet Cow Ice Cream. Admission is free.

The Pouring for Paws wine-tasting and silent auction event will feature light appetizers, live music and lots of wine. All proceeds will go to save dogs and cats at Outpaws Animal Rescue. The wine will be pouring from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lumber Baron Inn. Tickets are $60; buy yours here.

Axios Estiatorio will be celebrating its third anniversary with live music from San Francisco band Fotia starting at 8 p.m.; admission is $10 at the door. For more information, call Axios at 720-328-2225.

Friday, October 17

Desserts & Delights, a fundraiser for the Hep C Connection, will start at 6 p.m. at Courtyard by Marriott Denver Cherry Creek. The event features decadent desserts and both silent and live auctions. Tickets are $45; purchase them here.

As Halloween approaches, its time for sweets and treats. Choctoberfest offers guests just that, with demos, a Chocolate Challenge contest, tastings hosted by more than fifty vendors, an "aerial chocolate apple-bobbing contest" and much more. Get your chocolate on from 4 to 10 p.m. tonight and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow, October 18 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center. Admission is $5 and tasting tickets cost $10 for twelve or $20 for 25. The Thorne Nature Experience is throwing a fundraiser for its sixtieth anniversary that includes a silent auction, wine and handcrafted beer, appetizers from local restaurants, and a celebration of environmental education.
