Three decades ago, Ina Garten was about as far from being a celebrity chef as possible. In 1978 she was working for the White House in the Office of Management and Budget when, looking for a creative outlet, she decided to purchase a specialty-food store with her husband, despite having "no experience in the food business," she remembers. Fast forward to today: Garten has penned nine cookbooks and her Food Network show, Barefoot Contessa, has been a huge success, winning several Emmy awards. And tonight she'll be on stage in Denver.
Garten will be at the Paramount Theatre to talk about the pleasures of cooking and entertaining as well as her latest recipe book, Make It Ahead: A Barefoot Contessa Book.
Amanda Faison, food editor at 5280, will also lead a Q&A with Garten, giving the audience a chance to ask the culinary star their own questions. Tickets start at $49, get yours here.
