Charlie Papazian Book Signings Great American Beer Festival Colorado Convention Center 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 2 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 3 2 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 4

If you're the lucky holder of a ticket to this week's Great American Beer Festival, you'll also have an opportunity to hobnob with Charlie Papazian, the guy who started it all and head of both the GABF and the Association of Brewers. Papazian will be signing copies of the newest edition of his homebrewing bible daily throughout the fest, and you will leave knowing everything you always wanted to know about beer -- including how to make your own.

The Art of Performing Poetry Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 4 Free


To cap a two-day poetry workshop at the Arvada Center, longtime local performance poet Gregory Seth Harris, aka SETH, and his students, fresh from their learning experience, will work an open mic for the public. Joining Harris are Jared Smith and Wayne A Gilbert as the featured poets. The event is free -- and perhaps you'd like to step up to the microphone yourself.
