Eat, Drink and Go Green at St. Paddy's Parties This Weekend

St. Patrick's Day is officially Tuesday, but this weekend will be awash with all things green. At 12:45 p.m. today, Mayor Michael Hancock will be at 1520 20th Street, for the official changing of the name to Tooley Street, after the late Dale Tooley, longtime Denver district attorney. The parade will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, winding through the "Emerald Mile" of LoDo and downtown, with grand marshal Thomas Noel ("Dr. Colorado"). But before, during and after, there's an event for everyone — from family-friendly parties to drunken debauchery. Keep reading for a rundown.

 Friday, March 13

This weekend the ViewHouse in the Ballpark Neighborhood is going all out, all weekend long. Starting today the bar will go green with its Shamrock Rock N' Roll party. The party will feature Irish food and drink specials including green beer, car bombs, Guinness cheddar-bacon potato soup and Jameson shots. Live music will start with The Epilogues at 2 p.m. and Air Dubai at 6 p.m.; there will also be giveaways and the first 100 people get a signature ViewHouse St.Paddy’s Day T-shirt. The party continues on Saturday with a St. Paddy’s Post Parade Party and more specials, giveaways and entertainment from the Michael Collins Bag Pipes & Irish Dancers. Session Kitchen will celebrate the Irish holiday with a special dish of corned beef and cabbage buns, similar to the ever popular brisket buns from the regular Session Kitchen menu. This featured St. Patrick’s Day dish will be available starting today and running through Tuesday, March 17.

Saturday, March 14

Randolph’s Restaurant and Bar will be serving up a bottomless brunch this Saturday and Sunday in honor of St. Patrick. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. $35 will get you bottomless green mimosas, bottomless Irish coffee and a variety of sweet and savory breakfast fare. The restaurant is offering complimentary all-day parking for those looking to explore other festivities, like the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Randolph’s will also offer a special St. Patrick’s Day menu featuring Irish favorites likes shepard’s pie and corned beef and cabbage, in addition to regular menu items. Fadó Irish Pub always throws one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Denver and this year is no exception. The party begins bright and early today at 7 a.m., when the doors will open for European sports, English Premier League and 6 Nations Rugby. A limited brunch menu will be available available starting at 11 a.m. and will be served until 10 p.m. The Outdoor Block Party at Fadó adjacent to Coors Field begins at 10 a.m. and runs through close. Guests can enjoy a full day and night of cocktail and beer stations, traditional Irish food, live bands and more. Bring the wee ones ‘til 4 p.m. for face painting, games, bouncy house and entertainment. Live music starts at 11 a.m. with the last band taking the stage at 9:30 p.m. Performers include The Clancys, The Indulgers and That Eighties Band. There will also be entertainment from Irish Dancers and bagpipers throughout the day. While Fado throws down in downtown, the Irish Snug will be holding it down on Capitol Hill. The restaurant's annual Capitol Hill Hooley will kick off at noon today with live music, Irish fare, strong drinks, traditional entertainment, a magic show and much more; the fun runs until the wee hours. Racines has created a few special menu items for the holiday, which will be available today and Tuesday. At lunch and dinner those two days, guests can choose from steak and Guinness pie or corned beef and cabbage, and for brunch and breakfast they will have the option of corned beef Benedict and car bomb pancakes, which can be paired with special Irish libations from the bar.

 
With all the partying going on this weekend, it's important to make sure you have a safe, and sober, ride home — and nobody knows that better than the Colorado Department of Transportation. Today from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Abbey Tavern, CDOT will be rolling out the green carpet and treating responsible party-goers like stars, complete with faux paparazzi and reporters. Guests will have the chance to walk the green carpet and receive souvenir photographs, Uber ride vouchers and more. 

The Curtis is helping guest get lucky this weekend with the ShaRock, all-inclusive party. From 1 to 6 p.m. there will be music from DJ Rockstar Aaron and Air Dubai, all-you-can-drink Coors Light and an all-you-can-eat bar food, all for $35 per person.  VIP tickets are available that include early entry, even more drinks, free swag and a commemorative mug. The Cherry Cricket is celebrating St. Patrick's Day this weekend with corned beef and cabbage, green beer and an Irish mushroom soup. The Cherry Creek landmark will also have live Irish music entertainment with bands starting at 1 p.m. Conivan, the Colorado Youth Pipe Band, will go on at 3 p.m.; Celtic Steps Dancers at 4 p.m.; Centennial State Bag Pipes & Drums at 5 p.m. and the Denver & District Bag Pipes, Drums & Dancers at 7 and 9 p.m. For more information, click here.

Jill's Restaurant and Bistro in Boulder will help get you back on your feet after Saturday's festivities with the best cure for a rough weekend: some good food and a little hair of the dog.
