See Video of Disturbed Passenger Who Rushed Cockpit of Denver-Bound Flight

A flight bound from Washington, D.C. to Denver had to turn around and land back in the Nation's Capitol last night

CBS notes that United Airlines flight 1074 — a Boeing 737 — left Washington's Dulles airport last night headed for Denver.

Then, about twenty minutes after takeoff (7News estimates the time as 8:40 p.m.), a man "failed to comply with crew instructions," according to a United spokesman.

That's putting it mildly. The man is said to have rushed the cockpit and had to be subdued.

On the video, the man is clearly distressed. He repeatedly can be heard saying, "I'm sorry."

The pilot handled the matter calmly. The website LiveATC.net features audio of him saying, "United 1074 declaring an emergency due to a passenger disturbance. He's restrained, we need to return to the airport.

"We had a passenger becoming violent," he adds. "No weapon involved. He's restrained by other passengers now though. We don't know his mental condition. But sound like he's restrained for now. Just need to get on the ground."

The plane landed without incident and the thus-far-unidentified passenger was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

In the meantime, the other passengers (33 of them) were put on another plane and sent to Denver, where they were expected to arrive a short time ago.

Man, will they have a story to tell.
