Denver Sheriff's Department Deputy Lori Clyncke loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, as this photo from her Facebook page attests.
She was riding hers this weekend when tragedy struck.
Clyncke was killed during a traffic accident in Weld County.
She was 47.
The DSD broke the news in the following tweet.
According to Clyncke's Facebook page, she attended school in Nederland before studying at the University of Northern Colorado.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, Clyncke was reportedly riding her Harley on Colorado 60 not far from Johnstown when a Dodge Caravan crossed the median and struck her.
She wasn't on duty when the crash occurred — and 9News notes that no helmet was found at the scene.
Afterward, both Clyncke and the driver of the van were transported to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
At last report, the thus-far-unidentified van's driver had not yet been released from the facility.
The incident remains under investigation, but neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been factors at this point.
DSD personnel were shaken by the loss.
Our sincere condolences to them, as well as to the friends, family and loved ones of Lori Clyncke.
