10 Things to Do for $10 in Denver This Weekend (8 Free!) October 16-18

Things are looking good in our fine city. The leaves are changing, the sun is setting earlier and the zombies are coming. And coming, and coming. Besides that invasion, the next few days will be filled with outdoor markets, live music and gear-swapping. Here are our top ten choices for weekend activities that cost $10 or under. Sea of Eyes and An Awkward Photograph at Leon (8 p.m. Friday, $10)
Enjoy a musical art performance at Leon tonight with Denver-based music icons Sea of Eyes and An Awkward Photograph. Take a date for an intimate performance in a hip space.

Roll | Thriller at EXDO Event Center (9 p.m. Friday, free-$5)
The roller-skate party is back, and all you King of Pop fans will be excited by the Thriller-themed night, when zombies and ghouls will congregate on skates for a wicked time. Sign a waiver here and get there before 9 p.m. for free entry. Dress your best: There's $500 on the line for the best costume. 

Uncaldwell: A Comedy Game Show Benefit at The Oriental Theater (Midnight Friday, $5)
We've been blessed with a great comedy scene in Denver. Not only do the comics make us laugh, but they give back to the community as well. Local comedy super-fan Dave Caldwell recently fell on some hard times, so Uncalled Four is doing a special show to help pay some of his medical bills. The special late-night show can get raunchy and dirty, but it's for a good cause, so go here to help write questions for the show and possibly win prizes. Learn more about Dave here.

Cassette Store Day at Twist & Shout (10 a.m. Saturday, free)
There's nothing like that analog sound, and record shops around the world will be celebrating the glorious compact cassette tape today. Get to Twist & Shout early for tons of new releases from everything from Method Man to Surfer Blood. It could be a hectic situation, but it will be a great opportunity to get your hands on some rare gems. 

Autumn Ski & Gear Swap at Neptune Mountaineering (11 a.m. Saturday, free) 
Trade your way to a new-to-you pair of skis, backpack, outerwear, climbing gear and all kinds of other outdoor paraphernalia at this swap. Since the snow season will soon be upon us, various ski areas will be at the event offering heavily discounted lift tickets and passes.

End of the Season Celebration at The Big Wonderful (Noon Saturday, free)
The Big Wonderful has been a solid addition to our city for summer through much of fall, but it will shut down for the season today. Have one last hoorah with the food trucks, craft cocktails, vendors and live music, as well as an on-site dog park for our furry friends. After that, it's see you next summer!

Libre & Laughs: Zombie Brawl at Denver Pavilions (12:30 p.m. Saturday, free)
Downtown Denver's going to turn into an all-out festival of the undead today, and one of our favorite Ten for $10 events will be part of the extravaganza. While zombies gather up the mall, check out a special Lucha Libre & Laughs featuring a twelve-man zombie brawl at the Pavilions. There will be plenty of wrestling bouts, and comedy that could wake the dead from Timmi Lasley, Bobby Crane, Andrew Bueno and headliner Jordan Doll. 

Zombie Prom at Casselman's Bar & Venue (6 p.m. Saturday, free)
After you're done crawling around town, end the night at the zombie prom. Swap fake blood and gore with all the other soulless corpses on the dance floor while wearing your ghoulish best. There will even be beer pong, if you're into that. 

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon at Civic Center Park (8 a.m. Sunday, free)
These people are running a marathon, so the least you could do is clap your hands for them — as long as you can clap to the beat. Every mile of the marathon will feature live music to keep the runners and the crowd on tempo. The race loops from Civic Center to Coors Field and over to City Park and back, so odds are good you'll find runners and rockers close to your neighborhood. 

Pumpkin Patch & Final Farmers' Market at Founders' Green Park (8:30 a.m. Sunday, free)
It is fall, after all, so it's time to grab your gourd. At the last Founders' Green farmers' market of the season, and for every $5 you spend you can go over to the patch to get a free pumpkin. Bring the family and enjoy the day.
