Don't touch that dial! Denver rises again:  On Monday, April 4, Kelley & Kafer, a talk show on KNUS/710 AM, will move from 1 to 4 p.m. into the key 4 to 7 p.m. drive-time spot, switching slots with national yakker Hugh Hewitt, who's moving his show to D.C. and will be airing on tape-delay here.

Putting Kelley & Kafer  in the drive-time slot is a good move for the station — and also for Steve Kelley and Krista Kafer.

"I'm so encouraged after a ton of personal challenges," says Kelley, a longtime fixture on the local media scene (remember all those stunts in the '80s?), who returned to radio in 2011 with his show on KNUS and was injured in a car accident last year. "The chemistry has developed so beautifully with Krista; she's a true gift, and we complement each other for great radio."

Kafer, a professor at Colorado Christian University and Denver Post columnist (don't miss her "A Conservative Against Trump" column), is a relative newcomer to radio but has been rising fast; she replaced the & Company in Kelley's earlier show, and even subbed for Hewitt earlier this year. (Full disclosure: I've been subbing for Susan Barnes-Gelt on "Head On," the point-counterpoint spots that Kafer does on Colorado Public Television.)

"Steve and I are excited about moving to drive time on 710 KNUS," Kafer says. "We're all about breaking news and good commentary on politics, culture and life. If you're laughing and learning, chances are you're listening to Kelley & Kafer. We'll make the rush hour something to look forward to in Denver."

And we'll be listening.
