Although there was a lot of restaurant action in Boulder this week, including the opening of Hosea Rosenberg's Blackbelly Butcher, there's food news in other areas, as well: The November ballot in Boulder may include a measure that calls for an vice tax on sugary beverages such as soda and other sweetened drinks. The group Healthy Boulder Kids has already submitted the language for its Tax on the Distribution of Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Products with the Boulder clerk's office; it calls for a tax of two cents per ounce on beverages that have five grams of sugar or other sweetener per twelve ounces — a tax that would be imposed on the distributor but would likely be passed along to consumers.
