See Why RTD's Civic Center Station Will Be Closed for a Year

According to RTD, Civic Center Station, located on Broadway between Colfax and 16th Street, is among its most popular transit centers.

But just over two weeks from now, the 15,000 passengers who use it a day will be unable to use it — for a year.

Why? RTD is embarking on a $26 million renovation of the station — work that the agency describes as a "much-needed facelift."

The station will be closed for approximately twelve months beginning on Sunday, July 3.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Civic Center Station serves as one of RTD’s busiest regional bus transit centers with eighteen routes serving an average of 15,000 passengers a day. It provides a turnaround point for the 16th Street Free MallRide and is also the location of the Civic Center Plaza. A part of the downtown landscape for more than three decades, it's time for this important transit hub to get a much-needed facelift.

The new state-of-the-art design proposes a complete renovation of the site including:

• Building structure that is easier to maintain and repair long-term

• Open and welcoming environment design

• Land parcel preserved for future development opportunities

• Nine bus bays

• Glass-enclosed terminal building

• Bus concourse rebuild

• Bus ramp extension connecting Broadway to Lincoln

• Open view from 16th Street Mall to the State Capitol

CIVIC CENTER STATION CLOSURE

Starting July 3, 2016, Civic Center Station will close for construction for approximately 12 months. Plans to revitalize the station into a multi-modal transit center will provide better connections and enhance the quality of service we provide our passengers.

REROUTED BUS SERVICE

During the closure, bus routes from Civic Center Station will be assigned temporary bus gates along Broadway and Lincoln Street as well as bus stops on Colfax.

The following routes will be affected:

0L, 3L, 16, 16L, 83D, 83L, 87L, 90L, 100L, 116X, 122X, CV/CS/CX, EV/ES/EX, FF4, P, and R/RC/RX

Passengers using routes 90L, 122X, FF4 and R/RC/RX will board buses on Lincoln Street between 17th and Colfax.

Passengers using routes 0L, 3L, 83D, 83L, 87L, 100L, 116X, P, CV/CS/CX and EV/ES/EX will board buses on Broadway between 14th and Colfax.
