In August, many people escape the city for one last summer vacation — but here in Denver, you can escape your everyday life by simply spending a night at the theater. Here are three new options:
The Greater Good
Three Leaches Theater at Spark Theater
985 Santa Fe Drive
7:30 p.m. August 4, 6, 11-13 and 18-19
Tickets: $15 in advance, $20 at the door

Three Leaches presents local playwright Rebecca Gorman’s dystopic tale about a future America plagued and quarantined by a disease that might or might not exist.
Town Hall Actor's Playground, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Littleton Town Hall Arts Center
7 p.m. August 5 and 7
Tickets: $5

Such a deal: For only five bucks, you can delight in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as performed by the youth actors of Town Hall’s Actor's Playground program. It’s fully staged and costumed…and, oh, so cute. Catch these blossoming faeries and sprites on stage for two nights only.

Visionbox, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea
Skylite Station
Benefit opening, 8 p.m. Saturday, August 6
7 p.m. August 11 through 14
Tickets: $100 opening benefit, $20 regular run
303-573-4940

Visionbox at the Denver Academy of Dramatic Arts launches its Visionbox Cabaret project, which presents fully staged plays in progress that are a step above open rehearsals but still in a workshop mode. John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea opens the lid on the new venture, beginning with an August 6 benefit performance that includes a talkback and reception; a string of regular performances follows next week. Give a budding production a boost, and get to know what Visionbox is all about.
