The eighteen-year-old rapper Trippie Redd has made headlines a few times this year — and not for good reasons.
In May, he and Lil Wop were arrested after fighting Atlanta rapper FDM Grady because Redd reportedly disrespected someone's girlfriend, according to TMZ. A couple of weeks later, he was arrested and charged for aggravated assault and battery after he allegedly hit a woman over the head with a gun, reported Billboard.
Redd spent most of the fall on Travis Scott's Astroworld tour, then backed out, supposedly dissatisfied with how long it took the headliner's crew to set up. He missed his Denver stop, but Denver didn't particularly miss him, as we were wowed by Scott and opener Sheck Wes.
Good news for those who did miss him: Redd just announced a major tour, including a Sunday, February 17, stop at the Fillmore Auditorium. The show is being promoted by Live Nation, the same entertainment giant that booked Scott at the Pepsi Center.
Redd, who's known for his emotionally raw mumble-rapping that blew up on Soundcloud, says in a statement: “I like timeless music. I like making timeless music. You’ve got to think of a timeless concept. Love, hate, anger, sadness — all that shit is timeless. And if you can make something without it just meaning one thing, people can feel it and turn it into their own. That’s what makes it timeless.”
Tickets for this all-ages show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, December 21, at the Fillmore box office, through Ticketmaster or by phone at 800-745-3000.
