"Snowmobiling is the number-one part of our economy during the winter season," says Katrina Wright of the Kremmling Area Chamber of Commerce, "so we decided last year to put on an event that embraced that fact. It was so successful that we're doing it again."
The second annual Snowmobile Drag Races and Radar Runs will be held today at Wolford Mountain Reservoir, six miles north of Kremmling on Highway 40. Anyone with a sled can compete. "Last year, we even had a guy on a tour sled enter the competition, and we found some people for him to race," says Wright. "So you don't have to have a fancy, modified turbo-sled to win here."
Racing takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a breakfast and awards ceremony hosted by the local Rotary Club tomorrow morning. Activities are free for spectators and $25 to $60 for competitors; call 1-970-724-9655 to sign up or 1-877-573-6654 for general information.
