Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip

When the mothership lands on Earth and the aliens sift through the rubble of the hip-hop canon, their tentacle sensors are likely to pick up on the way in which many of the melanin-deficient MCs stand out for having blurred the line between beat-driven syncopation and the art of spoken word. Some glaring failures notwithstanding, that's not always a bad thing. Having garnered instant cult fame by inscribing its pop-culture commandments in the tune "Thou Shalt Always Kill," Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip has nailed this rap subset with incisive, socially conscious "rhymes" and tight, intricate breaks. While prescient, the act ends up falling just short of timelessness with "Thou Shalt Always Kill," which dates itself with all-too-current trend touchstones that will most likely end up where these guys will: as a bright blip on the geological timeline.
