I don’t have kids, so the closest I can get to understanding the childhood joy of Christmas morning are my own memories — and my dog, Marshall. He just loves tearing the wrapping paper off of presents (I usually let him help with mine, too), and this year, I’m going to make sure he has plenty of toys and treats under the tree by visiting the Canine Rehabilitation & Conditioning Group’s annual Holiday Party.

The CRCG’s recreational pool will be open for doggies who like to get their paws wet, and professional photographer David Budd will be all set up for photos with Santa (the perfect addition to any holiday card!). Animal communicators will be available, and, of course, vendors will be selling everything your pup could possibly want for Christmas. Proceeds from photos, a silent auction and swimming will benefit Freedom Service Dogs. The party takes place today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CRCG, 3760 South Lipan Street in Englewood; call 303-762-7946 or visit www.dog-swim.com.
Sat., Dec. 6, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., 2008
