My Sister Outlaw

My Sister Outlaw once considered using the title of this record as its moniker, which makes sense; the feisty material here certainly fits. From the shimmeringly psychedelic "Aphrodesiac" to the hard-edged "Bus Stop" to the latter-day riot-grrrl rock of "Whatever," the remarkable variety of sounds is reflective of the input of the group's four songwriters. And the band's cover of Mike Neff's "Bitter Water" does justice to an already strong, bluesy folk song. Never stuck in a specific musical style, Tigers in Her Hips benefits from a unified artistic vision, one that has been forged from honing these songs through numerous live performances. Although Hips is charmingly low on fidelity, it's hi in terms of the sheer number of quality tracks.
