Previously taking place every Friday, but now going down once a month on First Friday, the live-music event known as Backwards Records Night might seem at first glance to be surfing the runoff of the nearby Santa Fe Art District.

But even as edgy as the Santa Fe gallery crawl can occasionally get, it's safe as milk compared to Backwards Records' aural rewiring. The record label — headquartered in Denver and Seattle — specializes in mutant strains of industrial music and electronica, drawing together a tribe of laptop-wielders and synthesizer alchemists to perform at its monthly convocation. And while the event sometimes draws touring outfits of national renown, the November 6 show will be headlined by Denver's own one-man outfit Circle Six, the brainchild of Mike Annuit. Annuit takes inspiration from the skittering paranoia of Skinny Puppy to craft his fractured beats and stark, claustrophobic smears of digitized noise; it ain't exactly easy listening, but then again, good art of any kind shouldn't have to be. Backwards Records Night plugs in tonight at 9:30 p.m. at Kazmos Lounge, located at 1381 Kalamath Street. Admission to the 21+ show is free. For info, visit www.myspace.com/backwardsrecords.
