Echo Mountain earned Best Ski Deal honors in the Best of Denver 2009, and the deal keeps getting sweeter. Now that Echo offers night skiing until 9 p.m., its lift tickets are a real bargain: a full twelve hours of skiing will cost you about half what it costs to ride for half as long at most Colorado resorts.
There's not a lot in the way of steep and deep at Echo Mountain, with fifteen trails and a vertical drop of just 660', but if you're a terrain-park terror, you'll be all set. This year's full-mountain park includes features designed by Echo's partners at Burton, Never Summer and Sims, and by local mags Snowboard and Freeskier, among others. Then again, Echo's also as good as it gets for kids and newbies, with Magic Carpet rides for tots and the cheapest lift ticket/lesson packages in the state.
Echo is getting as much snow as the big mountains, and it's just 35 miles from downtown Denver. Right when you hit that first wave of ski traffic, around Idaho Springs? That's your exit. For more information, go to www.echomt.com.
Mondays, Wednesdays-Saturdays, 5-9 p.m. Starts: Dec. 2. Continues through May 2, 2009
