Spin Art

When Denver-based Suburban Home Records celebrates its fifteenth birthday this weekend, a spate of live music and general partying will roll through the house at 3 Kings Tavern. But down under the dance floor, in the subterranean Phoenix Gallery, there will be a different kind of celebration going on: Creative bros Charly “the city mouse” Fasano and Vincent Cheap Fasano, working together as Dumb Guy’s Brother, will host an artistic equivalent of the down-and-dirty noise upstairs: the Suburban Home Records Birthday Weekend Art Show 2010.

Artists include musicians, such as Karl Alvarez of All and the Descendants and Martina Grbac of Matson Jones, among their ranks, but all the participants comprise a community of Suburban Home fans. Featuring alternative artwork and video by a roster of artists from here and farther afield, the gallery will be open for viewing from 6 p.m. to midnight tonight and tomorrow, accompanied by evening showcases for indie film and literature starting at 7 p.m. 3 Kings is at 60 South Broadway; gallery admission is free.
