Telling my grandchildren stories of my growing up is some of our favorite times spent together, and they seem to be especially interested in the organic and simplistic setting I grew up in, says Bastianich, who was born in Pola, Istria, near her grandmother, who grew and raised just about everything that Bastianich and her family ate. It is this life, how I played, what we ate and how communal family life played out, that interests my grandchildren and so I decided to share the stories and my family with other children, explains Bastianich, who will sign her book today between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Tattered Cover, 2526 East Colfax Avenue. Free numbered tickets for a place in the book-signing line will be doled out at noon, and seating for Bastianichs remarks prior to the signing are available on a first-come, first-served basis to ticketed bookworms.
