I wanted to write a book about globalization, says Lindsay. I was taken with air travel because its the physical side of it. So taken, in fact, that hes stretched the idea to its logical extreme, describing a future where cities will be built around airports instead of away from them, reasoning that economic growth will develop based on the businesses attracted by a major airport. Aerotropolis takes the long view, looking at how airports can and will affect global economics, international relations, even sociological change.
Lindsay will be on hand at 7:30 p.m. tonight to give a short presentation and answer questions at the Tattered Cover Book Store in Highlands Ranch, 9315 Dorchester Street; admission is free. For more information, call 303-470-7050 or visit www.tatteredcover.com.
