Measured aesthetics meet childhood fun tonight at NEXT Gallery's latest collaborative event, A Playdate With Kidrobot. More than just a typical art show, the evening will combine the unveiling of a new toy from Kidrobot with Truth or Dare: Folklore and Mythologies, an exhibit of new work from Tammi Brazee, CT Nelson, William Bishop, Peter Strange Yumi, Valarie Savarie and the gallery’s directors, collectively known as Danma VS V2R2.

The collaboration began when the New York-based toy company moved its headquarters to Colorado a year ago and NEXT sought to make a connection. "We found a lot of commonalities with Kidrobot. We both like to do a lot of community outreach," says co-director Dan Ma. In addition to the new toy and the artwork, tonight’s event will feature a four-foot-tall toy coated in chalkboard paint that the artists – and visitors – can draw on throughout the weekend.

A Playdate With Kidrobot opens at 6 p.m. at NEXT Gallery, 3659 Navajo Street. Truth or Dare: Folklore and Mythologies runs through April 14. For more information, visit nextartgallerydenver.com or call 303-433-4933.
Fri., March 29, 6-10 p.m., 2013
