“Doing this on Small Business Saturday is a no-brainer. People are already out there looking for small businesses and local places to buy, so why not make one great big marketplace where they can go?” Dillon says. “People want to be connected to what they’re buying.” And, she adds, Wazee Union is already home to a solid base of working artists and micro-entrepreneurs, though outside vendors are also part of the market mix: “We have many artists who are not yet represented by boutiques, and there are no vendor fees. We’re really trying to get the community of creatives out there for the general community to find.”
And you’ll find a lot of variety from this army of forty-plus vendors: vintage wearables, children’s clothing, jewelry, artisan dill pickles and marshmallows, terrariums, original and printed sign art, Dillon’s own one-of-a kind hand-built hats, and a lot of stuff that doesn’t yet have a name, among other things.
