All Arts, All of the Time

Our town rocks the arts all year 'round, from those crowded First Friday art walks to the vibrant club scene, where live music thrives; there’s so much to do that it’s often difficult to make room for it all. But one night a year, Westword makes it easy for you by throwing Artopia, an event huge enough to encompass the best of what Denver has to offer in the arts, all in one place — or, to be exact, five places along Broadway’s club strip: Vinyl, City Hall, Salty Dog, the Living Room and Bar Standard.

With a jam-packed schedule that allows event-goers a chance to pick and choose between live music, artist displays and demos, vendor booths, graffiti art, poetry, performances, eats and drinks, Artopia never lets you down, from the time you arrive until the fun lets out at 2 a.m. And you won’t want to miss the moment when we crown the tenth crop of MasterMinds — a handpicked quintet of Denver makers and doers who will receive micro-grants to carry on their work in the arts — in a ceremony scheduled early in the evening at the Living Room. Who will they be?

Artopia kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight; check in at Vinyl, 1082 Broadway, where you’ll receive a wristband admitting you to all five venues. Purchase tickets, $25, in advance at microapp.westword.com/artopia/2014, where you’ll also find a complete schedule of the night’s events by location, or at Westword, 969 Broadway.
