Glendale’s Infinity Park is home to the region’s burgeoning rugby scene, but in the summertime, it’s also the place to go for Monday Movie Madness, a bi-weekly outdoor family film fest. And tonight’s offering is Big, the all-ages Tom Hanks blockbuster that celebrates what’s good and not so good about being a kid. Though the well-played comedy, in which Hanks plays a boy who wakes up to find himself a twelve-year-old in a grown man's body, has some adult insights to savor, it isn’t likely to instigate family discussions about those issues; it’s mostly just a feel-good movie for a summer night under the stars. Film lovers will also find a novel twist to the screening: In partnership with Brigand Pictures, Infinity is hosting an Independent Filmmaker Short Film Contest this summer, and at 7:45 p.m., the weekly winner will be shown on the jumbo screen, before the main feature starts at 8.

Gates at Infinity Park, 4599 East Tennessee Avenue in Glendale, open at 7 p.m.; arrive early to spread your picnic and blanket on the grassy stadium pitch. Admission is free; find more information at infinityparkatglendale.com.
