For almost three decades, the CMJ Music Marathon has grown into a monster of a music outing, right up there with South By Southwest. Started in 1980 as a way for industry folks to discover bands on the college radio charts, the CMJ Music Marathon went from just a few venues in New York City to fifty venues and more than 1,000 bands playing over four days. So it's kind of big deal when Denver-based acts get tapped to play. Although there's always a number of outfits that make the trek on their own, there's a few that get direct invites. We just received word from Sonic Bids that the Photo Atlas, Jim McTurnan and the Kids that Killed the Man and the Knew are slated to play this year's marathon, which runs from October 20-24, along with indie buzz acts like Crystal Antlers, Japandroids, Pissed Jeans and Broadcast. Congrats, dudes!
