A bunch of storied bygone Denver bands are getting back together for a night of mesmerizing music-making. On Friday, November 15, at the hi-dive, Machine Gun Blues, Red Cloud, Monofog, Red Orange Yellow and Horace Van Vaughan are slated to reconvene to help the beloved South Broadway bar celebrate its anniversary. Across the street at 3 Kings Tavern, meanwhile, on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, Dr. Neptune is plugging back in for a two-day fest at 3 Kings Tavern for a night dubbed Punx Not Dead...We're All Just Really Fucking Old.
MGB and the other bands are getting back together in honor of the Hi-Dive's ten-year anniversary (and the one year mark since the bar changed hands), and that show will kick off a weekend-long celebration that also includes sets by Zebroids, the Photo Atlas, Empty Palace (former MGB) and Warhawk on Saturday night, and the Royal, Ark Life and Joe Sampson on Sunday. Tickets for each of these shows are $5 per night.
In addition to Dr. Neptune, more than a dozen of other veteran punk bands are on the Punx Not Dead...We're All Just Really Fucking Old bill, including Boldtype, King Rat, Frontside Five, Dead Ringer, Red Stinger, Potato Pirates, the A-OKs, Allout Helter, Stuntdoubles, Pitch Invasion, Straight Outta Luck, False Colours, Plan B Rejects, Holley 740 and another surprise act. Tickets for this show are $15 in advance for both days or $10 each night at the door.
