BLOND:ISH @ NORAD | FRI, 6/28/13 Blond:ish is proof that you can't judge a book by its cover. DJs Anstascia and Vivie-Ann might superficially resemble a dozen interchangeable, pretty blonde club spinners who seem more invested in their hairdressers than their record collections, but the hair and funky clothing are as far as that comparison goes.

The two weave sets and create tracks that playfully skirt the razor-thin line dividing house and pure techno, layering trippy vocals over sassy percussion and soft, melodic electronic thrums that buzz through your body, eliciting dance moves you didn't even know you had. Formed in Montreal and now based out of London, the duo has also perfected the trick of bridging old-world and new-world dance-music sensibilities. The floor at NORAD will no doubt be scorched bare when these ladies take the helm.

12TH PLANET @ BETA | FRI, 6/28/13 As the leading force behind SMOG, L.A.'s premier dubstep connection, John Dadzie (aka 12th Planet) is well known in the EDM world. Touring with Skrillex certainly helped, but this solo act stands alone, with a quarterly Beta residency that showcases just what is going on behind closed doors at the SMOG label. As a known drum-and-bass aficionado, Dadzie brings the dubstep alive with 12th Planet, and Coult-45 and Caustik will round out the main floor. Raiz of Droid Behavior and Sequence will hold down the Beatport Lounge. (9 p.m., 18+, $15) -- Britt Chester
