Ray Decker, general manager at the Kitchen, has gone to great lengths to elevate the place of beer in fine dining. Since he took over the beer program in 2006, he's grown the list to include rare finds from all over the world and educated the community through tastings and monthly dinners.
His next beer dinner is a big one: Sierra Nevada is throwing its thirty-year anniversary party at the restaurant today, June 14.
The brewery is celebrating three decades with a line of collaboration ales that pays homage to the craft beer renaissance. Contributors to the recipes of those beers are the godfathers of the craft beer movement, including Charlie Papazian, who wrote the definitive guide on homebrewing, started the American Homebrewers Association and founded the Great American Beer Festival. Papazian will be on hand for the party at the Kitchen, too, pouring samples of his homebrewed beer for guests at the pre-dinner reception, which starts at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $90 and include five courses plus beer, gratuity, and taxes.
