Jason Mueller was equally obsessed with chronicling the growing fleet of mobile vendors, itching to be first in line for just about every cart since the Gastro Cart opened near his office last November. And as the fleet of trucks grew, he found himself longing for a place that kept track of them all.
So he took matters into his own hands and created a website called From Denver With Fries, which he defines as an information portal for all of the street-food vendors in Denver.
"This isn't necessarily for reviews," Mueller emphasizes. "I wanted to create a center of information where people could see what's out there and then check out menus, websites and locations."
The site's handiest feature is the Twitter feed, which compiles all the tweets from the mobile vendors featured, and the events calendar, which posts locations of the trucks on a day-to-day basis.
Mueller wants to add a map with pinpointed locations as well as an iPhone app, and he's open to other ideas, too. But this isn't a business venture, he stresses. "I'm not making money from this; I just needed a project," he explains. "I really, really like street food, and I want to help make it viable."
We support that hobby. It makes planning our food-truck lunches that much easier.
