Rumors are flying that the forever vacant Il Fornaio space at 1631 Wazee Street is finally getting fresh blood, specifically from TurnTable Restaurant Group trio Jeffrey Chodorow, his son Zach and Dan Smith, the former president of Jillian's restaurant and entertainment complexes. Smith, along with the Chodorows, who are also the brains behind New York-based China Grill Management (China Grill, El Scorpion Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar, Red Square, Mix, Asia de Cuba, Red White and Blue, Rumjungle and many more) have big plans to turn the empty parcel into Big Game, an upscale sports media lounge -- think tasteful and understated -- sometime this spring.
