Where was I?In Southeast Asia, where, amid the obligatory adventures in tourism, I attempted to gain a better understanding of the cuisine of that region. I made my way through North Vietnam and Laos, taking in the silk and pottery, temples and pagodas, coffee and tea, markets, monks and Mekong River.
And, of course, I ate.
And ate. And ate. Everything from coconut rice in a bamboo shoot to young pumpkin to piping hot bowls of pho to a fertilized chicken egg. Details of my gastronomic discoveries and food porn will follow in the near future, but, in the meantime, I've got a burning question:
Does anyone know a restaurant in Denver that serves Laotian food?
Because I'm not sure how long I can stave off the cravings before hopping a flight right back to Vientiane, which, dollar for dollar, might have been the best food city I've ever been to.
