"They literally started unbolting the patio rail mid-shift," says Daniel Kuhlman, who owns the spot. "The people who were out there having a glass of wine really enjoyed that."
Rather than stay open during the construction disruption like many of the business on Tennyson, Kuhlman temporarily closed his doors to wait it out. Now, the dust is finally clearing, and though the last touches left him with a broken window that still needs to be repaired, he'll will reopen his doors tomorrow for First Friday.
And there will be extra incentive to stop by, too: During tomorrow night's festivities, Tastes will be selling wares from its old Uptown location, which shuttered a few months back to make way for Wild Catch. Items on the block include Belgian beer glassware, artwork, table tops and plush chairs, which Kuhlman says he'll arrange pick-up or delivery for. "And wine racks," says the owner. "I've got gobs of wine racks."
Tastes is hosting the sale in the lobby next to the restaurant for the duration of the artwalk or until everything sells out.
And then, hopefully, it will be back to business as usual.
