This is MOD's twentieth store and its first franchise location. Industry veterans Bob Merullo, Kevin Embree and Scott Schooler will own and operate the location; Embree and Merullo have several more stores planned for the Denver market. "We were attracted to MOD's philosophy of putting people first and their desire to redefine the fast- food experience for both guests and team members," says Merullo.
MOD makes individual, artisan-style pizzas on demand, using organic fresh-pressed dough, signature sauces and any combination of thirty featured toppings; then cooks them in an 800-degree oven for less than three minutes. You can choose between the same toppings for the hand-tossed salads. Pizzas and salads are the same price, regardless of the number of toppings.
MOD also serves local draft beers, wine, milkshakes and house-made lemonades and iced teas.
The Centennial store will be open from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday; find more information at modpizza.com.
Of the similarity between the names MOD Pizza and Modmarket, Denver's homegrown pizza, sandwich and salad chain, Modmarket co-founder Anthony Pigliacampo had this to say: "We believe customers are smart enough to note the difference between Modmarket and MOD Pizza. Our restaurants are quite different and while our names share a few letters, we don't think customers will be confused and wish them well as they open stores in Colorado."
