Conservation Colorado loves our state's air, land, water and people -- people who in turn love beer. Which is why the organization is hosting Save the Ales today at 6:30 (or 6 p.m. for VIPs) p.m. at Casselman's Bar & Venue. Tickets are $30/$50 VIP and include unlimited tastings from Colorado craft breweries and food from local vendors. One of beer's most important ingredients, hops, is extremely sensitive to the adverse effects of climate change, so this is your chance to help.
Copper Kettle is celebrating Dead Styles month during spooky October, featuring a different firkin each Wednesday. Today's is Gratzer, a German smoked wheat, which will be tapped at 3 p.m. CKrepes will be serving food at 4:30 p.m.
The Yak & Yeti, which won its second-ever medal at the Great American Beer Festival last weekend for its Chai Milk Stout, will pour one of its other treats today: Sherpa Prima, a barrel-aged robust porter.

As it does every year, the Wynkoop Brewing Company (which celebrates its 25th anniversary this month) will roll out a keg of every specialty beer it made this year for its annual Beers of the Year party, taking place tonight at 6 p.m. For $25, you can try all of them, along with vertical tastings of some of the beers from previous batches, Some of the beers include 2011 Imperial Stout, Brewjolais Nouveau 2011 and 2012, Catalyst, Koop de Ville, Barley Wine 2010-12, and Saison de Colfax. Now that Hops & Pie has scheduled a Pumpkin Beer Festival, it makes me wonder why there haven't been half a dozen of them each year. No matter. This one features some of the best pumpkin beers around, from Colorado and elsewhere. Starting at noon, you'll find Epic's Fermentation Without Representation, Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin and Pumpkin Head, The Bruery's Autumn Maple, Dogfish Head Punkin, Alaskan Oh My Gourd, Black Bottle Brewery's Give Me A Kiss Pumkin, Avery Rumpkin, Echo Pumpkin, Elysian Dark of the Moon (along with Great Pumpkin and Nightowl), Tommyknocker Pumpkin Harvest, Upslope Pumpkin Ale, Strange Pumpkin Porter. Flights and single pours are available. No tickets are needed.
Falling Rock Tap House will mark its 8th Annual Fresh Hop Fest today in the craft-brew mecca's parking lot. Come sample more than 25 beers -- from Colorado and the West Coast -- brewed with freshly harvested whole hops. Only 250 tickets, $25 in advance or $30 at the door, are available; proceeds benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild. The fest takes place from noon to 5 p.m. and will sell out. Breweries include: Elevation Beer Co, Strange Brewing, Black Sky, Tommyknocker, Crooked Stave, Bonfire Brewing, Ska Brewing, Denver Beer Co, Caution, Great Divide, Boulder Beer, Crazy Mountain, Pateros Creek, Dry Dock, Breckenridge, Revolution Brewing, Port Brewing, Full Sail and Sierra Nevada.
The Wynkoop Brewing Company is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month with a 25th Birthday Blowout today from 6 to 10 p.m. And the theme is connecting all of the people who worked there at one time or another. "Forget Kevin Bacon," the brewery says. "It's One Degree of Wynkoop Brewing Company for the hundreds of Denverites who worked at the brewpub over the last 25 years. We're gonna party like it's 1988 with That 80s Band and an '80s-themed food buffet and drink specials. Don your best day-glo/Flashdance gear and head to the 'Koop. Lone Tree Brewing will be selling 22-ounce bottles of its limited-release Hop Zombie Red IPA today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (or while supplies last) -- a now-annual tradition. Only 75 cases of Hop Zombie will be available, and based on last year's sales, Lone Tree expects to sell out by the end of the day. Bottles are $9. Hop Zombie is an India Red Ale, "full of delicious malt sweetness balanced by full-flavored hops with bright citrus, light fresh grass and pine notes," the brewery says. A small amount will be available on tap.
