Richard Sandoval may have trademarked the term "modern Mexican cuisine," but he's celebrating the past with a week's worth of specials to commemorate the 2010 Mexican Bicentennial -- the 200th anniversary of the independence movement, which overlaps with El Grito on September 16.

Both outposts of La Sandia Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar -- in Northfield and at Park Meadows -- are offering three courses for $20.10: grilled shrimp huarache, pork carnitas tacos al Jalisco, and abuelita chocolate cake. There are also twenty flights of tequila available for $10 each.

And Tamayo, at 1400 Larimer Street, is also offering a roster of specials. For more information, go to www.modernmex.com.
