"We're excited to provide an environment where you don't have to read labels," says owner Joshua LaBure, who also started Chomp! Vegan Supper Club and the vegan Neat Market. "We have groceries, vegan junk food, local produce, pre-packaged meals from the Vegan Van and The Garden in Park Hill, as well as clothing and books available."
Funding for the market was aided by Nooch's Kickstarter campaign, which successfully raised just over $10,000 -- an impressive feat, considering the volume of campaigns on the site. "It would have taken us way longer to open without Kickstarter. We received tons of support locally and nationally, and not just from vegans," he says. "We got a lot of positive feedback from people who weren't vegan but cared about being more conscious about food in general."
Nooch Vegan Market is open until from 3 to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow, with normal business hours -- Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends -- beginning next week.
"We're still in a soft opening phase," explains LaBure, "but we'll probably host a grand opening sometime soon." Check Nooch's Facebook page for updates.
