Telluride-based filmmaker Beth Gage is the current Board President of Mountainfilm in Telluride and is bringing her second documentary, Bidder 70, to the festival. The film follows the story of environmental activist Tim DeChristopher, now in federal prison after fraudulently buying up oil and gas leases in a 2008 protest at a BLM auction.
Salida-based director Sam Bricker is bringing his third short to Mountainfilm: Ernest follows octogenarian backcountry survival teacher Ernest Wilkerson ("a local legend in Monte Vista, Colorado").
Telluride local Scott Ransom's documentary Lady B's First Winter follows Telluride ski patroller Gary Richard through a year of training with Lady Beatrice, a rookie avalanche dog.
Ben Sturgulewski, part of the Boulder-based Sweetgrass Productions crew, will show his short Last Light, featuring snowboarder Forrest Shearer and skiers Stephan Drake and Johan Jonsson making the most of the "magic hour" in Haines, Alaska.
Craig Stein's Mountainfilm debut Load Bearing follows the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program to Alaska for adventures with James and Summer Colt, along with guide Drew Ludwig.
Boulder-based Sender Films principal directors Peter Mortimer and Nick Rosen are longtime Mountainfilm favorites. This year they'll be bringing Race for the Nose, a documentary of Dean Potter and Hans Florine's speed climbing record attempt on The Nose at El Capitan. They'll also be showing their film Sketchy Andy, about slackliner Andy Lewis, and an in-progress cut of Valley Uprising, a documentary about the history of climbing in Yosemite National Park.
ScrambleVision, from Nederland-based filmmaker Eric Peter Abramson, follows performance painter Keith "Scramble" Campbell in and around the jam band scene.Aspen-basd filmmaker/photographer Tyler Stableford's new short, Shattered tries to keep up with ice climber Steve House.
And Golden-based couple Jake Norton and Wende Valentine star in Wild Love, the first in a series of shorts documenting "the romantic relationships of outdoor athletes and adventurers" (don't miss our August 2011 Show and Tell interview with Jake Norton, on his Challenge21 project, benefiting Water for People).
