Next weekend, Alamo will show three Williams films, each for just $5, with proceeds going to the University of Colorado Depression Center, which provides treatment for persons with depression and bipolar disorder as well as co-occurring anxiety disorders. The lineup:
Popeye 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 23 Robert Altman directed Williams in this offbeat musical adaptation of the classic comic strip character; it was his first major film role. With music by Harry Nilsson. Also starring Shelley Duvall.
The Fisher King 4:30 p.m. Saturday, August 23 Terry Gilliam's wild and devastating film with Williams, Jeff Bridges, Mercedes Ruehl and Amanda Plummer in a fantastical tale of forgiveness and moving on.
One Hour Photo 9:30 p.m. Thursday, August 28 In a dark role showcasing his massive acting range, Williams dove head-first into his role as a lonely Photomat technician who finds solace in the lives of his customer's photographs but soon finds that solace can turn to obsession if you're not careful. Presented in 35mm film.
