With/Between/Beyond...It Could Not Be at CORE New Art Space (Friday, free) Start your weekend off with new artwork by eight RMCAD artists -- from sculpture to painting and performance art. Creators including Abby Johnson and Jenna Dwyer will be on hand for the opening reception.

Reeewind and Roll at the EXDO Event Center (Friday, $5) Rather than stay home and watch others compete in the Olympics, head to the EXDO Event Center tonight for a very special Winter Games-themed rollerskating party. Drink, skate and compete for prizes at this monthly bash.

Cartoons & Comedy at Deer Pile (Friday, free) Cartoons & Comedy is back tonight with comedians Roger Norquist, Aaron Urist and Jordan Doll riffing on classic toons from the 8'0s. Relive your childhood television-watching memories and be prepared to laugh.

Colorado Environmental Film Festival at the American Mountaineering Center (Friday-Saturday, $7-10) Environmentally-themed films from all over the country will screen in Colorado this weekend, inspiring audiences to action. The zero-waste festival has everything from a photography exhibit to films on a variety of activist movements.

Rashid Johnson: New Growth at MCA Denver (Friday, 10 cents) "What would happen if Sun Ra, George Washington Carver and Robert Smithson started a community together in the desert?" That question is the impetus for Rashid Johnson's new show at MCA Denver, which you can view at tonight's opening for just a dime. The show combines materials as varied as LP covers and shea butter to books and burned wood.

Community Art Making Day at RedLine (Saturday, free) Inspired by Friday's art openings? Set your own creative muse free at RedLine's community art-making day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to all ages and levels of people who want to share their own personal narrative through visual art.

Mile High Soul Club at the Sie FilmCenter (Saturday, $10 film, free dance party) Though their voices are heard throughout the world, backup singers are widely unrecognized. The film 20 Feet From Stardom will delve into the life of backup singers tonight, followed by a free dance party in Henderson's Lounge at the Sie FilmCenter thrown by Mile High Soul Club.

Space Prom at the Deer Pile (Sunday, $10) Space is the place tonight at Deer Pile's Space Prom. Don your best martian gear for an evening of dancing, skits, live music from Smash Syndicate, and a crowning of prom queen and king.

Buffalo Bill Birthday Celebration at the Buffalo Bill Museum (Sunday, free) Celebrate the birth of Wild West legend William "Buffalo Bill" Cody today with cake and games at his namesake museum. The doors will be open for free to this day of learning, a poetry performance by Susie Knight, and the annual Buffalo-Chip Tossing Contest.

Propaganda! at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret (Sunday, free) Lannie's will be filled with free comedy tonight at the monthly edition of Propaganda!, which will feature Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald, Ben Kronberg, Sam Tallent, and Shayna Ferm. As always, there will be free Sexy Pizza slice cards on hand, free T-shirts, and free street parking.
