We can all feel comfortable calling Mark Amerika, the artist pioneer in new media technology, at least half-Coloradan, since he lives in Boulder (a separate republic, perhaps, but Colorado all the same) half of the time. And we can all cheer for him as a local when Amerika's latest ground-breaking work, Immobilité, opens October 20 for a five-month run at the Denver Art Museum, 100 West 14th Avenue Parkway.

Touted to be the first feature-length film shot entirely using a mobile phone, Immobilité makes its local debut at a 5 p.m. champagne reception and screening. It will then be available for viewing in the FuseBox, on the fourth level of the DAM's Hamilton Building, through February.

Amerika will then discuss the film (which features an original soundtrack by sound artist Chad Mossholder and was purposely shot unscripted) and other topics during a Logan Lecture installment at 7 p.m. Finally, the evening tops off with a after-party across the way at the Mad Wine Bar. Admission ranges from $8 to $18 and reservations are required; call 720-913-0152.
