Some people will try and tell you that $10 won't get you much these days. To those people, we say "you're wrong, sir," because every weekend in Denver's there is more than enough to do for 10 bucks and less. This weekend there are arts shows, cult-films and not one, but two craft fairs. Apparition Palestine: A Modern Tragedy at Mercury Café (Friday, $10) Apparition Palestine is the story of a Palestinian girl's quick adventure to the United States on a scholarship and her inevitable return to Gaza. The goal of the play is to showcase the day-to-day lives of these women in hopes of showcasing the truth about living in Gaza. Beads, Braids and Brows: Frida Style ArtShow at Comfort Café (Friday, Free) Most of us can't afford to purchase the works of Frida Kahlo. Actually, most of can barely afford to even look at those works. Thankfully, local artist and entrepreneur Joy Barrett has organized an ode to Kahlo's works with "Beads, Braids and Brows," where us common folk can purchase local art and crafts inspired by Frida. Peculiarities: from fish to freaks at Pirate: Contemporary Art (Friday, Free) If looking at wacky and surreal images isn't on your itinerary for the day, you might want to change your plans. Claudia Roulier's art shows always center around the oddities of life, and this one looks no different. First Friday at the Art District of Santa Fe (1st Ave-13th Ave on Santa Fe Drive, Friday, Free) Actually, since it's first Friday you might as well be sure to hit up as many galleries as humanly possible while consuming as much free booze as you can before hitting up the nightclubs. If you're not sure where to go, the old stand-by of wandering along the Art District of Santa Fe is always sure to entertain.

Monster Squad at the Starz FilmCenter (Friday, $7-$9.25) If you haven't seen the cult-classic film Monster Squad tonight's your chance to see it on the big screen. It's a film about a group of monster-expert teens who are tapped to save the world by killing classic monsters, blowing stuff up and shooting things. If that doesn't get you in the door, nothing will.

Denver Handmade Homemade Market Club at Spaces (1368 26th Ave, Friday, Free) Do you like adorable crafts? Are you a fan of DIY clothing? Antiques? If so, you don't want to miss the "Denver Handmade Homemade Market Club" this week, where you can pick up homemade food, art and clothes. Horseshoe Craft and Flea Market at Moore Olinger Howard Chapel parking lot (Saturday, Free) Do you like adorable crafts -- oh wait; we already started one that way. What's this? Two homemade craft expos in one weekend? Well then, if you're a lover of supporting local artists and cooks, you've got a busy weekend ahead of you. "Horseshoe Craft and Flea Market" features 94 booths filled with 115 vendors peddling handmade goods. Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day at Bear Lake Park (Saturday, Free) Considering we grew up in Colorado, the very idea of "Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day" seems a bit strange to us -- we did it all the time, and we didn't need no stinking adults around. Then again, it's a different era, so if your kids spend their days sitting around reading Shakespeare all day (or whatever kids these days are up to), you can get them off their butts and into the saddle for some mountain riding. Mark Sink Gallery Talk at Byers-Evans House Museum (Saturday, Free) Mark Sink has been a photographer for a long time, and this show will take a look at his works from 1975-2010. The interesting part here isn't the works, though, it's the techniques he uses. Sink will do a walk-through on Saturday afternoon, and photographers can take a direct peek at how he accomplishes his work. Real is a Feeling at the Meadowlark (Sunday, Free) If Sunday nights have you sitting around and wishing The Simpsons was still good, you can get off your ass and head over to the Meadowlark to find some great music instead. The DJ duo of Screensavers manages to drop totally new sounds on an unsuspecting crowd every other Sunday.
