Womenswear Wednesdays: Visual merchandiser Michelle McBride on her lofty look

Michelle McBride is a California native who's now the visual merchandiser for Claire's. This means she pays special attention to arranging all the visual elements in her life. We spotted her on the Millennium Bridge, wearing her favorite things: the color black, a scarf, loafers and a graphic printed cardigan. Style inspirations/ icons: I love the street urban wear from New York, and the fashion blog humansofnewyork. Since I've cut my hair recently, I love Audrey Hepburn because she is androgynous and feminine at the same time. Karl Lagerfeld has iconic style, and we both dress in black all the time.

Favorite accessory: Scarves, and in the summer it's shoes.

Favorite color: Black.

Style mantra: While I am putting my makeup on before I get dressed, I say to myself, "I am the body beautiful," like when Patrick Swayze gets dressed in To Wong Foo.

Shops at: Urban Outfitters, H&M, Buffalo Exchange,Crossroads, miscellaneous second-hand stores like Goodwill, ARC, the Salvation Army and Savers.

McBride's cardigan is made out of a gold, horse-printed fabric. "I usually like to dress in natural tones and keep it simple," she says. "I will rotate my clothes sometimes by selling old ones to Buffalo Exchange and buy new clothes in order to keep my wardrobe fresh." "I usually wear loafers and 90 percent of the time I wear flats. My friends joke that I have a grandpa style," says McBride, who dresses in vintage-inspired pieces.
